Catching up
Sneaking in a blog post between busy days
August 14, 2022
It’s been a busy week! We came home from New Hampshire late Tuesday night, then left Thursday afternoon for a weekend camping. I’m home now and finally have a minute to blog, breathe, and of course catch up on things like laundry and phone games before it’s back to work tomorrow.
This past week, my new habit is to shower once a week. Can I just say “pandemic hygiene” and leave it at that? I mean, how many people slacked off on personal hygiene when they weren’t going anywhere or seeing anyone for days and weeks at a time?
Today concludes the end of week five, and I am doing well so far. I have a 96% overall completion rate, well above my 70% target. But from here on, I feel like the difficulty is going to increase a lot. For the past five weeks, I have been coasting on some of these habits (like running the dishwasher every night) since we’ve been on vacation. Now that summer is winding down, my daily routine returns to normal, and I can start adding in a lot of the household & health habits that have not been very accessible thus far.
Tomorrow, I want to start to walk daily, but this habit intimidates me. I am a wimp about the weather, so if it’s too hot, too rainy, too cold, etc. I will have to really force myself to get outside. I’m tired of being overweight and in poor condition though, and my 2-year-old dog desperately needs daily walks. I don’t want my bad habits to rub off on him!
